I have a face wound; how do I keep the PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage with No Adhesive (green box) in place?Updated 8 months ago

Because of its many contours and small spaces, the face can present challenges for keeping bandages in place.  Experience has taught us that people often need to get creative:

- You may need to cut the PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage to fit a unique shape or size - remember to overlap the wound edges by 1-2cm (approximately 1/2 inch) with the PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage pad, then moisten the PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage pad with Energel® Wound Hydrogel just before placing it on your wound.

- If your wound is draining, select an absorbent gauze pad to place on top of PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage. You may need to cut this to fit.

- Next, select a method to keep your PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage. Clear film adhesives and common over-the-counter bandage tapes can stick well to the face*, but it is important you clean the skin around your wound gently with soap and water or a wound cleanser first to remove oils that prevent adhesives from sticking. These items are readily available online and in stores.

*Remember that some of these coverings may not help prevent moisture loss so it will be important to monitor your wound and PowerHeal® Bioelectric Bandage  for moisture maintenance. If you notice that the bandage or your wound is drying out between bandage changes, you may consider: adding a more liberal amount of Energel® Wound Hydrogel at bandage changes, or adding a small amount of moisture (like sterile saline or water) periodically to the absorbent pad in between bandage changes.
